| After my son, Isaac, was born we had a very hard time trying to breastfeed. The nurses in the hospital informed me that I had flat nipples. Needless to say I was a little discouraged. The lactation nurse at the hospital gave me a nipple shield with little to no instruction. This led to me becoming even more discouraged. There were moments where I was in tears trying to figure this out and almost gave up. My sister recommended calling a lactation consultant. I got Michelle’s name from my Pediatrician’s office and gave her a call. She was so nice and understanding. She came to my house and worked with Isaac and me to figure out how to get him to latch on with the nipple shield. I couldn’t believe it was working! A few weeks later Isaac and I were breastfeeding without the nipple shield and everything was smooth sailing from there. Michelle was so informative even my mom, who breastfed nine children, was impressed with her knowledge and bedside manor. With her help and support I am still breastfeeding my son six month’s later. I have confidence that if I am lucky enough to have another baby I will be able to breastfeed that baby as well. | |

| My son was diagnosed with reflux and while he was "thriving" according to his pediatrician I could see that he was still uncomfortable during some of his feeds. He would sometimes cough, choke or cry and it was very distressing to me. Michelle visited my home for a consultation and was able to show me different techniques to address his feeding issues. She took her time and answered all of my questions completely. She also took the time to show me how to use my pump something I had been putting off for a while and answer all of my pumping-related questions as well. I felt completely comfortable with Michelle and I learned a great deal from her in a very short time. Following my consultation I have contacted her several times and she has responded promptly and taken time to talk through my additional questions. I would highly recommend Michelle to anyone who is in need of a lactation consultant. | |

| After coming home from the hospital with my first son Kyle, I found myself needing assistance with breastfeeding. Although I had taken a class in the basics, I still was not prepared for getting my son to latch on properly. Michelle came highly recommended to us by a good friend of our family. She came to our home immediately and within minutes my son was feeding successfully. She taught us about the benefits of breastfeeding as well as how to increase my milk supply. I had always wanted to breastfeed my child but I was almost ready to give up until I received her help and support. My husband and I were so grateful for Michelle. Her knowledge and expertise were invaluable! We wholeheartedly recommend North Shore Lactation to families who are in need of breastfeeding advice. | |
